ArcadeIndex

DRAFT – not legal advice. This page is a template awaiting the founder's final text.

Privacy policy

Players

[DRAFT pending founder and counsel review.] ArcadeIndex itself sets no cookies for players who do not sign in. We count page views and plays without identifiers, and we never store raw IP addresses: rate limiting and abuse protection use a salted hash, kept for at most 30 days. When ads are on, Google may set its own cookies: see "Ads, cookies and your choices" below.

Games run in a frame on their developer's own domain; that site's own privacy policy applies inside the game.

Ads, cookies and your choices (draft)

[DRAFT pending founder and counsel review.] When ads are on, some pages show ads served by Google (AdSense or Google Ad Manager). Google and its partners may use cookies, or similar storage on your device, to show and measure those ads, to limit how often you see the same ad, and to prevent fraud. How Google uses this information is explained on Google's page "How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services": https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites

[DRAFT] At launch we ask Google for non-personalized ads on every page: ads chosen from the page you are on and your general location, not from a profile of your browsing. Google still uses cookies for non-personalized ads, to cap how often an ad is shown, for aggregated reporting and to fight fraud. Pages and games for younger players also ask Google for child-directed treatment, and Mature game pages show no ads at all.

[DRAFT] Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent by Google's consent tool (Privacy & messaging) before ad cookies are used. Visitors in US states with privacy laws can opt out of the sale or sharing of their personal information with Google's "Do Not Sell or Share" link. You can change your choice at any time with "Your privacy choices" at the bottom of every page.

[DRAFT] If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we ask Google to restrict how it processes data for your ad requests, and we never show you a pop-under ad.

[DRAFT] Signed-in players with ad-free see no ads from us, so Google's ad code does not load for them; the consent tool may still load.

[DRAFT] Our own storage: besides the sign-in cookies described in this policy, your browser keeps a few values for our pages in its own storage, never in cookies. In sessionStorage, which is cleared when you close the tab: a random visit id sent with our page view and play counts, how you arrived at the site, and the games you played in this tab. In localStorage: when you last saw our ad-free suggestion card and, if pop-under ads are ever turned on, when you last got one, so we can show each at most once in a while.

Developers and admins

If you sign in, we set one strictly necessary session cookie and store your email address to send sign-in links and claim codes.

Player accounts and ad-free (draft)

[DRAFT pending founder and counsel review.] Signing in is optional and only needed to buy ad-free. If you sign in, we store your email address to send sign-in links, and set one strictly necessary session cookie plus one cookie that tells our pages not to load ads when your account is ad-free.

[DRAFT] If you buy ad-free, Stripe processes the payment and we keep a record of your subscription or purchase (its status and dates, and Stripe's customer and payment references) for billing and tax records. We never receive your full card details.

Reports and legal notices

Reports may include an optional email address. DMCA notices and counter-notices contain the information the law requires; a counter-notice is forwarded to the person who filed the notice.
