ArcadeIndex API
Read-only API over the ArcadeIndex catalog of free, verified-playable web games. No key required (60 requests per minute and 1,000 per day). A free API key from https://arcadeindex.io/portal/api-keys raises that to 600 per minute and 100,000 per day per account. Free tier: attribution required, for non-commercial use or commercial use below the threshold in the API terms; paid plans allow commercial use. Paid plans: Builder ($39/month, 3,000 per minute and 500,000 per day, commercial use); Business ($199/month, 12,000 per minute and 2,000,000 per day, commercial use, full catalog export); see https://arcadeindex.io/portal/api-keys#plans. Every body carries an attribution block: render "via ArcadeIndex" with a link to https://arcadeindex.io/attribution.

GET /games/search Search games
MCP twin: `search_games`. Find web games from a natural-language query plus optional filters (genre, mood, session length, players, quality, content rating, difficulty, inputs). Phrases like 'for kids', '2 player', 'under 10 minutes', 'not a shooter', 'easy' or 'chill' are turned into filters (echoed as interpreted_filters); explicit params win. Returns only published, playable games verified within the last 8 days (listing-only games with include_listing_only=true). content_rating_max defaults to teen. Zero results is a success with code NO_MATCHES and up to 3 executed relaxations whose args you can call again. Quote match_reasons and link play_url; render 'via ArcadeIndex' per the attribution block. GET /games/trending Trending games
MCP twin: `trending`. Games trending over the last day or week (genre scope when genre is set). trending_basis says whether play data or the recency fallback was used. Returns only published, playable games verified within the last 8 days (listing-only games with include_listing_only=true). content_rating_max defaults to teen. Zero results is a success with code NO_MATCHES and up to 3 executed relaxations whose args you can call again. GET /games/random A random game
MCP twin: `random_game`. One random eligible game for 'surprise me' flows; pass seed for a deterministic pick. Never returns Mature games. Zero eligible games gives game: null with code NO_MATCHES and relaxations. MCP twin: `get_game`. Full details of one game by id or {slug}-{id}. Aliased ids resolve to the canonical game (requested_id is set). Also returns listing-only, stale or suspect games: do NOT present play_url as instantly playable unless play_ready is true. Errors: NOT_FOUND (unknown, unavailable or not public), GONE (delisted). GET /catalog/export Full catalog export (Business plan)
Business API plan only (other callers get 403 PLAN_REQUIRED). Every game agents can be given (any rating, quality or embed mode), ordered by `game_id`; pass `next_after` back as `after` for the next page. No MCP twin. The public counts snapshot is `/catalog/snapshot`.
