About
About ArcadeIndex
ArcadeIndex is an index of free games you can play in your browser. Every game is checked by our verifier before it is listed. People search the index here, and AI agents search it through our MCP server and REST API.
How we find games
Our crawler reads public game listings and feeds from a small set of sources we have reviewed. Developers can also submit a game themselves. Every game page names the source it came from and links the original page. Our crawler page says how the crawler behaves and how to keep it away.
How we check games
The short version is below. The How we check games page has every step, live numbers and what the checks cannot catch.
- Before listing
- Our verifier opens the game in a sandboxed test browser and checks that it loads, renders and responds. The same run looks up the game's addresses with a malware and phishing reputation service.
- Re-checks
- The 1,000 most played games are checked again every 3 days, every other game every 6 days. A game that fails its checks is marked unavailable until it works again. Games with two or more checks show their check history on their page.
- Playable here
- Most games play right on ArcadeIndex. Some only play on the developer's own site, and their page says so. AI agents are only offered a game as playable while its last check, within 8 days, found it playable.
- Content rating
- Every game gets a content rating, and its page shows the rating with the reason for it. Games rated Mature never appear in lists or on the home page. The content policy has the rules.
- Problems
- Every game page has a Report button. A person reviews each report.
For players
Search, or browse by genre, mood and length, and play in the page. No download and no account are needed to play.
For game developers
Submit a game to get it listed, or claim your game in the developer portal to edit its listing. To have a game removed, use the developer opt-out.
For AI agents
The MCP server and the REST API return the same catalog as JSON. No key is needed to search; a free key from the developer portal raises the limits. llms.txt summarises the site for language models.
How ArcadeIndex is paid for
Playing is free. The site may show ads, and developers can pay to boost their game. Boosted placements are labelled Boosted, and paying never changes organic ranking or what AI agents get back. See Boosted games.
